SUBJECT: Dust Control
Carbon County will again coordinate with residents who are interested in having a dust suppressant applied to the county road near their residence. Carbon County will ensure that the county road is properly prepared and, if you desire, will arrange for the application. You, as residents, must accurately measure and properly mark each stretch of road that you want treated with dust suppressant. UNMARKED ROADS WILL NOT BE SPRAYED.
Dustbusters Inc. of Billings will apply the DustGard (Magnesium Chloride). This product is a proven cost-effective dust suppressant and road stabilizer. The product will be applied after May 15, 2023, depending on weather and availability of application trucks.
We require a minimum of 200 lineal feet, which can be in combination with neighbors, before DustGard will be applied. The cost for applying DustGard is:
DustGard $1.15/lineal foot (24’ wide @ .5 gal/sq. yd.) The cost AFTER May 1st is $1.50/ft.
Carbon County will periodically grade areas where dust suppressant has been applied when the County Road Department determines it necessary for the convenience and safety of the traveling public.
If you are interested in working with Carbon County to have dust control applied this year, please complete your application/payment on-line at https://carboncomt.seamlessdocs.com/f/dustcontrol, or mail the accompanying form and mail your check made out to CARBON COUNTY to the Commissioners’ Office, Attn: Angela Newell, PO Box 887, Red Lodge, MT 59068, as soon as possible but no later than May 1, 2024.
Other dust control applicators are available and can be used if you desire. Carbon County does not endorse Dustbusters or any other applicator, but are making them available for those who wish the County to coordinate the effort for them. If you use another applicator, they must coordinate the applications with your County Commissioner.
Please call Angela at (406) 446-1595 or email anewell@co.carbon.mt.us if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Carbon County Board of Commissioners
